Ornithology
The lakes and areas of reeds as well as the large, wild uncultivated areas of the puszta have become breeding grounds for more than 200 varieties of birds. There are bird types that breed only in the puszta. For example, every kind of heron of Europe comes here to breed, and this takes place only in the Theiss region, and nowhere else!
Their presence is strongly protected. In late summer and autumn thousands of migratory birds rest in the region, and the air is filled with the sonorous call of the crane.
There is one bird in Hungary that no one can do anything to, and that is the stork. Some villages have over 20 stork nests!! You are invited, especially in the time from May to July, to observe the life of these wonderful birds.
